In partnership with the Semana Rosa Association, Welwítschia, Refriango’s tonic water brand, organized the talk “Education is Prevention” today at the Luanda Institute of Economics (IMEL). As part of this initiative marking World Malaria Day, Welwítschia also donated one thousand mosquito nets to Prenda Hospital and the Kalawenda community in Cazenga.
Luanda, April 25, 2025 – In partnership with the Semana Rosa Association, Welwítschia reinforced the importance of malaria prevention and control today among students and teachers at IMEL. Through this action, the tonic water brand joined global efforts to eradicate the disease, which are being highlighted today on World Malaria Day.
During the session “Education is Prevention,” epidemiologist Dr. Esperança Martins engaged with the audience, answering questions and clarifying key issues around malaria transmission, treatment, diagnosis, and prevention.
As part of the event, Welwítschia also donated one thousand mosquito nets to Prenda Hospital and the Kalawenda community.
Dalila Prata, President of the Semana Rosa Association, highlighted:
“This partnership with Welwítschia for the ‘Education is Prevention’ Talk is fully aligned with our mission and vision, as we believe education and information save lives. Promoting this awareness action is another step we take toward a more informed and conscious population.”
The Semana Rosa Association has developed consistent and recognized work in raising awareness on health-related issues.
According to David Moisés, Refriango’s Non-Alcoholic Category Manager:
“This initiative reaffirms Welwítschia’s active and responsible role as a brand that walks hand-in-hand with the Angolan people. In our new campaign launched this week, we talk about things that are non-negotiable — and we believe that health is non-negotiable. It is a fundamental right and an essential foundation for collective progress. By combining education, awareness, and concrete action — like the donation of mosquito nets — we want to make it clear that we are present where it truly matters: alongside communities, promoting sustainable and lasting change. Today, more than just marking a date, we choose to be part of the solution.”
At the end of the “Education is Prevention” talk, participants received educational materials and T-shirts to mark the occasion.
