Vision

At Refriango, we believe that our role extends beyond providing quality products to our consumers. We are driven by the conviction that success should be measured not only by profit but also by the positive impact we create in the communities we serve and the environment we share.

We are committed daily to making a difference in the lives of Angolans, believing that we thrive when our communities thrive. Therefore, we are dedicated to developing and supporting initiatives that promote education, health, environmental sustainability, and sports.

Development and Education

Education is a fundamental vector for development; it is the foundation upon which prosperous and sustainable societies are built. At Refriango, we recognize that investing in education is crucial for the economic, social, and cultural development of any community. Therefore, we invest heavily in projects that educate, empower, encourage, and enhance initiatives for young people and adolescents.

Tigra Nova Garra Awards

This initiative aims to reward young Angolan talents who excel in the fields of Education, Health, Arts, Sports, Science, Technology & Digital World, Environment, Public Service, and Music. Launched in 2022, the project has directly benefited 77 young individuals.

Turma da Blue

The “Prova que Sabes” segment of Turma da Blue originated on social media with tips on speaking Portuguese correctly. In 2022, the initiative evolved into an inter-school competition named TURMA DA BLUE, a Portuguese language contest aimed at promoting and valuing language proficiency, encouraging quality writing, grammatical understanding, and stimulating young people's interest and skills in Portuguese. It also contributes to the development of oral and written expression, creativity, and research. Turma da Blue has already held three editions in Luanda and one in Benguela, impacting over 35,000 people, including students and others involved in the project.

Tigra Cubs BootCamp

The objective of Tigra Cubs is to equip young Angolans with skills in digital content creation for their businesses. Over 224 young people have been impacted by this project, which initially aimed to provide training for participants of the Tigra Nova Garra Awards.

Refriango “Dá Vida ao Futuro”

This project aims to improve the living conditions of children in some orphanages in Luanda Province. It started with the need for sustainability in these care centers. Refriango supports various orphanages in Luanda by providing scholarships, vocational training courses, monthly product donations, hosting lectures, birthday parties for children, and providing leisure activities such as beach trips, cinema visits, museum excursions, and more.

Pura in Maternity Hopitals

This project ensures the monthly supply of 3,000 liters of Pura water to mothers at the Lucrécia Paim Maternity Hospital. The water is provided to the emergency and breast milk banks of the hospital, considering that Lucrécia Paim Maternity is the primary facility for maternal and neonatal care in Angola. Hydration is crucial for ensuring good breastfeeding, so we ensure a regular supply of water to all mothers attending the maternity and its milk and emergency banks.

Tigra Mural

This project, in partnership with Verkron, a group of multidisciplinary artists based in Luanda, selected six young artists to paint and color a timeless mural on Rainha Ginga Street in Luanda. Tigra provided scholarships to these young artists to continue their artistic journey.

Sustainability

Refriango is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by using resources responsibly and establishing a more sustainable production model. Our goal is not only to minimize our environmental impact but also to inspire and empower our customers, employees, and partners to do the same. To this end, we are associated with various environmental organizations and associations to implement our environmental sustainability strategy, which is based on three essential pillars:

Circular Economy

We implement projects for the collection and recycling of urban solid waste such as PET, cans, and glass, extending the lifecycle of these materials and promoting job creation. This includes projects like Reciclar Econnosco in Luanda, present in schools, and Reciclar Econnosco in Benguela, featuring recycling points in various municipalities.

Water Management

We develop projects to ensure access to clean and potable water for communities affected by the Kwanza River, reduce water consumption in our production processes, and operate a wastewater treatment plant (ETAR) where wastewater is treated and returned to water bodies in environmentally safe conditions. This includes projects such as OMAZA, present in Luanda at the Calumbo village and Ícolo e Bengo municipality. Refriango also runs the Biofiltros project in Dande and the Bomba de Água project in Bocoio, Benguela.

Environmental Education

We conduct projects and actions to raise awareness and educate the public about the importance of environmental conservation. This includes initiatives such as Reciclar Econnosco, school programs, beach clean-ups, environmental workshops, and awareness campaigns.

Sports

Sports not only promote physical and mental health but also develop leadership skills and teach essential values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. At Refriango, we implement projects that encourage sports participation, creating opportunities for everyone. Our major projects include:

Blue Volleyball

Launched in 2013, Blue Volley (Vólei Blue) quickly established itself as a national reference in school sports. Through self-discipline habits, children aged 8 to 12 learn to cooperate with loyalty in a project that promotes the healthy use of leisure time through general Physical Education and, in particular, volleyball, which had been dormant in Angola until recent years.

Vólei Blue is a project developed by Refriango, combining the company’s social responsibility with sports. The program aims to popularize and promote sports practice in schools, especially volleyball. It is a social and educational sports project that focuses on teaching and promoting values, attitudes, and behaviors of excellence.

Educationally, Vólei Blue seeks to spark interest and passion among children, presenting volleyball as a simplified and enjoyable way to engage in sports, thereby achieving success and enjoyment and countering the negative effects of idleness. The project provides pleasant experiences, allowing participants to make new friends, learn new skills, develop self-discipline, cooperate, compete with integrity, and use their free time constructively.

Blue Volei Clube – Competitive and Sports Aspect

In 2016, Refriango launched the “Blue Volei Clube,” a federated club with 90 athletes born up to 2002, selected from the work in the 10 Vólei Blue schools. The club competes at the provincial, national, and international levels. These 90 athletes train 4 times a week during the non-school period at Refriango’s sports complex, known as “ARENA Refriango,” the best-equipped venue for volleyball in Angola. Refriango provides transportation from home to Kikuxi and meals after training sessions.

Achievements: In its 8th year, Blue Volei Clube’s male and female teams have been national champions 21 times across five categories:

  • 5x National Minivoleibol Champion (up to 13 years)
  • 4x National Champion in Youth (up to 15 years)
  • 6x National Champion in Juniors (up to 17 years)
  • 4x National Champion in Under-20 (up to 20 years)
  • 2x National Senior Champion (2023, over 20 years)

Gira Tigra

Gira Tigra is a beach soccer championship aimed at promoting the sport and organizing national tournaments. The project has already taken place in Luanda and Benguela, with plans to expand to other provinces, fostering sports and social interaction across various regions of the country. Our mission is to develop beach soccer in Angola, creating opportunities for local athletes to excel and providing quality entertainment for fans.

Gira Tigra stands out for its organization and the enthusiasm it generates among participants and spectators. Each edition attracts numerous talents who have the chance to showcase their skills and compete at a high level. The expansion of Gira Tigra to other provinces aligns with our commitment to democratizing access to beach soccer, bringing the sport to all corners of Angola. The positive impact of the tournament on communities is notable, not only by encouraging sports practice but also by strengthening community spirit and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Socca no teu Bairro

Socca no teu Bairro is more than just a street football tournament; it is a community project that transforms neighborhoods by offering a field-based football format adapted for the streets. This tournament targets local communities and provides a platform where football talents have the chance to showcase their skills, which are often not visible in major stadiums.

The Socca no teu Bairro games celebrate football in its purest and most accessible form, bringing together young and old around a common goal: playing football and having fun. In addition to promoting sports practice, the tournament significantly impacts the economy and social fabric of the communities where it is held.

The impact of Socca extends beyond sports, promoting a culture of inclusion and collaboration that strengthens community relationships and improves residents' quality of life. By encouraging community involvement and participation, Socca no teu Bairro also contributes to personal skill development. Participants learn about teamwork, leadership, and discipline, while spectators are inspired by the spirit of healthy competition and players' determination. This positive and stimulating environment helps shape young leaders and creates a sense of pride and belonging among residents.

Socca no teu Bairro is an initiative that goes beyond football. It serves as a catalyst for economic and social development, promoting sports and local entrepreneurship. By doing so, the project helps build stronger and more resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive. This tournament is a true example of how sports can be a powerful tool for social and economic transformation, bringing lasting benefits to all involved.
