Refriango and the Kuena Platform officially signed today, in Luanda, an Institutional Cooperation Protocol with the aim of expanding and professionalizing the VoleiBlue Project – a pioneering initiative in the landscape of school and competitive sports in Angola. This agreement marks a strategic step in both institutions’ commitment to promoting sports, social inclusion, and the development of national talent.
Luanda, June 7th, 2025 – The Institutional Cooperation Protocol between Refriango and the Kuena Platform aims to strengthen the reach and outcomes of VoleiBlue in both its socio-educational and competitive-sport components. Under the agreement, signed this morning at Refriango’s industrial complex in Kikuxi, the project intends to reach more schools and students over the coming years, while ensuring the continued competitive excellence of the Blue Volei Clube.
With this protocol, both parties reinforce key pillars of this socially-driven sports project, such as: the renovation and equipment of primary school sports facilities, the inclusion of an increasing number of educational institutions and students, and the promotion of both curricular and extracurricular sports activities to support the healthy use of young people’s free time.
In terms of competitive sport, the other core component of the VoleiBlue project, the newly signed protocol outlines ambitions to win more national titles across all age groups, participate in international tournaments, and have Blue Volei Clube players join the national teams – a result of their high level of preparation and quality.
These sports goals are consistently aligned with the educational dimension of the VoleiBlue project, which also tracks the academic performance of the club’s athletes, offering them scholarships for secondary and higher education, as well as logistical support and general and specialized medical care.
To achieve technical-pedagogical excellence and meet its socio-educational and sports objectives, the partner institutions have jointly implemented a continuous training program for teachers and coaches. They also commit to securing the status of the Refriango ARENA as a national reference for excellence in volleyball development.
Lilian Weyll, President of the Kuena Platform, emphasized during the signing ceremony that this partnership within the VoleiBlue project represents more than an institutional commitment — it is a direct investment in Angola’s future.
“Investing in the future means caring for the present — and there is no more valuable investment than in our children. This alliance with Refriango is a firm step toward a more just, inclusive, and prepared nation.”
For Lilian, VoleiBlue is living proof of how sport can be a powerful tool for transformation:
“We are offering our children much more than volleyball lessons. We are teaching values, nurturing talent, and creating real opportunities. VoleiBlue shapes champions both on and off the court, promoting discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence.”
She also highlighted the role of the private sector in this movement for change:
“When socially responsible companies like Refriango join forces with platforms committed to human development, the impact is lasting. We want to reach more schools, touch more lives, inspire more dreams. With Kuena and VoleiBlue on the field, the future of our youth becomes even brighter.”
Tânia Jardim, Refriango’s Marketing Director, stressed that:
“This protocol formalizes a promising alliance, as both Refriango and the Kuena Platform believe in sport as a tool for building a better future – not only creating athletes but also raising aware, disciplined citizens prepared to contribute actively to national growth. VoleiBlue is an example of how a social responsibility initiative can have a lasting positive impact, surpassing all expectations in terms of inclusion, social value, and the transmission of key values and life skills."
“When Refriango launched this project 12 years ago, it forever changed the face of school sports in the country, bringing volleyball to thousands of students. Later, with the creation of Blue Volei Clube in 2016, the sport was revitalized on the competitive level, with our players energizing local championships and putting Angola on the map in international tournaments.”
Following the signing ceremony, representatives from Refriango, the Kuena Platform and their guests attended the kickoff of the Inter-School Volleyball Championship.
